The FORS Safe Urban Driving (SUD) course is a FORS, Transport for London (TfL) and JAUPT accredited Driver CPC course essential for all commercial drivers operating in urban areas with high volumes of vulnerable road users.
Drivers attending this course will need to be physically able to ride a bicycle in order to complete the course and receive a certificate and have their hours uploaded.
Our cycling instructors provide all bikes and safety equipment required (including some electric bikes where needed). You can attend sessions at our centre or book a private group session at your site within the UK and Europe subject to availability.
The Safe Urban Driving Course is broken down into two 3.5 hour training modules.
This practical training session is run by two professional cycling instructors who will help drivers attending the course to gain a new perspective on vulnerable road users by putting them in the saddle. During the session the instructors will guide the group along a planned route stopping to highlight hazards and discuss common cyclist behaviour.
The classroom training session will be delivered by our specialist FORS instructor who will help the drivers identify vulnerable road users and accident blackspots in urban areas. Raise awareness of the use and limitations of safety equipment fitted to vehicles and use defensive driving techniques to reduce potential accidents involving vulnerable road users.
