Digital tachographs have been installed in all new commercial vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes since 2006 and yet everyday a professional driver in the UK gets into a vehicle with a digital tacho for the first time with no idea how to use it correctly.
If you have just got your first digital vehicle or have a driver that is not sure how to operate a digital tachograph then there are a few things that you will need to know in order to use the digital unit correctly.
Firstly you need to be aware that you are legally required to download the digital driver card at least every 28 days and the tachograph head in the vehicle at least every 90 days. To do this you will need to order a digital tachograph company card and buy a specialist tachograph downloading device. If you want to view the data downloaded from the driver card you will also need some digital tachograph software.
